Abstract
After an introduction to the retina concept, parallel halftoning is shown to be a key operator to allow massively parallel programmable image processing in the sensor. Then, using only resistive grids and hysteretic inverters, we show how it can be implemented in a compact "neural" form, while theoretically outperforming classical solutions.
